North Slope
Well, for the last 2.5 weeks I have been bogged down in a new job in Deadhorse, Alaska. This is a few miles from the Arctic ocean on Alaska's North Slope. The jobh takes up most of my time, but there are some photography opportunities. The landscape may seem dull, but ahhhh, the light changes ever so magnificently this far north. My first few photos here depict the sun over a snow field. The visual phenomena is called a light pillar or in this case solar pillar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_pillar

Grinnell Mountain
Re-editing some older photos from Montana today. More to come. This is all part of my overall drive to organize my work. In particular I have changed my database to be separated into batches. This way if the database becomes corrupted or lost (due to laptop overheating say), then I only lose a portion of my work that must be redone. Photography for me is not about walking around calling myself a professional. It is a process... a deeply fulfilling learning process which which provides a creative focus for my life, my travels and my work. Enjoy this shot from Glacier National Park, Montana:

Chugach
Still stuck in Anchorage. Still trying to get acclimatized. Keeping my eye on the mountainscape on the horizon. Hard to get an open view with all the buildings and powerlines, but the Chugach mountains are always beautiful to behold....
