an introduction of sorts...

To engage the universe with a lens is to commune with the universe. All images are understandings. All images taken from reality are an understanding of reality. This is true however an image may be altered, as long as it displays only that which really exists at whatever wavelength. All images are memories--an instance long since changed and passed-on into non-existence. An imprint from some previous quantum arrangement in the grandiose flow of things. The human mind thinks in images. And like a language, images can be traded, replicated and incorporated into larger meanings, movements, zeitgeists... Images are the goods with which I deal here. Come see a little of what I've discovered thus far with a camera lens. Feedback is always welcome. This site is still under development. I am eager to share ideas with other photographers both amateur and professional. Thanks!! ~Thomas

thoughts...

I have struggled for some time with the question as to where on the internet I shall make my primary photographic gallery.   I've enjoyed using facebook because I receive consistent feedback.  I have my personal page and a "photos by thomas" page located here.  But I am not a particular fan of facebook's methods or mission.  Seems to be a hegemonizing force in the virtual world and I'm really not so into it.  Mind you I am not worried about copyrights.  I never expect to earn money from my work.  I only hope to distribute and thus have my images make contact with as many human beings as possible.  This is my mission and my methods are the various publishing systems on the internet, including facebook.  However, the truth is my photographic postings on facebook create strife in my personal life.  Facebook is a jealousy generator. For better or for worse.  One does not always choose who one is connected to in this world.  Moreover, I believe one shouldn't.  If those I love are insecure about my work I will try to publish in ways that does not cause them personal strife.

Anyway, the endpoint of this posting is this:  I intend to try and use this blog as my primary publishing point.  It could also be descrived as my primary repository.  I have other sites with photo specific sites.  Notably my 500px site here.  But I need a greater degree of casualness then 500px provides.  I will put my cleanest best photos on 500px.  Perhaps it will be a repository.  But I want a plae for snapshots, works in progress and experimentations.   I canot always be seeking a new masterpiece to compete against others.   I am not motivated by competition when it comes to photography.  I am motivated by the development of my eye and thus, my interaction with the universe around me.... my relationship with the world I see.
